A major retrospective at the Benaki Museum, focusing on the life and oeuvre of distinguished painter Ioannes Altamouras (Jean Altamura) (1852-1878). Through his paintings, historical documents as well as his personal objects, the Greek public became acquainted with the work of a particularly gifted artist who died when he was only 26 years old. The exhibition also showed works by the Altamura family, his parents Saverio Altamura and Eleni Boukoura-Altamura, as well as his brother Alessandro Altamura. The exhibition design is inspired by the Altamoura Mansion in the Greek island of Spetses.
